17-year old Lexi Thompson sunk the birdie putt on eighteen to finish the first round of the U.S. Women's Open at two under par, just one stroke off the pace. The same could not be said for Michelle Wie. Wie drained a nice biride putt at number six but still shot a two over par 74. Meanwhile, Americans Cristie Kerr, Brittany Lincicome and Lizette Salas are tied atop the leaderboard at three under par. Lincicome's tee shot on seventeen almost found its way into the cup. (Call) Kerr, not to be outdone by Lincicome, nailed a long birdie putt at the seventeenth. Round 2 can be seen Friday afternoon on ESPN.
