Red Sox Blow Huge Lead, Fall to Royals

The Boston Red Sox blew a 9-3 lead and fell to the Royals 10-9 in 12 innings. Boston's bullpen gave up seven runs after a solid start from Aaron Cook, who was denied his fourth win as a result.

Just a few hours after a nine-player blockbuster trade with the Dodgers was approved, the Red Sox blew a six-run lead in a loss to the Royals at Fenway Park on Saturday night. Mauro Gomez hits his first major-league home run in the bottom of the second and added RBI single's in the bottom of the third and fourth as Boston raced out to a 9-3 lead . However, Red Sox relievers Andrew Miller and Mark Melancon allowed Kansas City to rally for six runs in the top of the seventh. Mike Moustakas' two-run triple tied the game at nine and Tony Abreu drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the twelfth as the Royals stunned the Red Sox 10-9.
