The Red Sox were routed in their series opener against the A's on Friday as Oakland extended their season-high winning streak to 7 games. Boston starter Aaron Cook didn't make it out of the 3rd inning. He gave up 7 hits in just 2 2/3 innings while allowing 6 earned runs in the loss. Oakland's Brandon Moss went 4-5, with a career high 4 RBIs, and Josh Reddick hit his first career grand slam for the A's, who scored 9 runs in the 7th. The lone Red Sox highlight was a Jarrod Saltalamacchia solo home run in the 4th. The Red Sox fell, 20-2, which was their most lopsided loss since a 22-1 defeat against the Yankees in 2000.
