The Red Sox were routed by the Rays at Tropicana Field Wednesday night. Jacoby Ellsbury drove in two runs over the first three innings as Boston jumped out to an early 3-1 advantage. However Daisuke (Dice-K) Matsuzaka gave up the lead in the bottom of the fourth on home run balls to Jeff Keppinger and Carlos Pena. Tampa then blew the game open in the sixth with a seven run inning that was started by Desmond Jennings' two-run triple and error that allowed Jennings to score a "little-league homer''. The Rays capped the rally with two bases loaded walks in their 13-3 blowout win over the Red Sox.
