The Orioles stayed on track for an AL playoff spot with a 6-3 win over the Red Sox. Jim Thome drove in two runs for Baltimore, who also received solo homers from Nate McLouth, J.J Hardy and Chris Davis to backup starter Joe Saunders in his third victory in an O's uniform. The surprising Orioles now only need a loss from the Angels to clinch a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 1997. Zach Stewart took the loss for the last-place Red Sox, while homers from Cody Ross and Daniel Nava accounted for the scoring.
