The Blue Jays scored four runs in the first inning and the Red Sox couldn't recover in a loss to their AL East rivals. Colby Rasmus blasted a two run homer and Edwin Encarnacion drove in one as part of the big first inning for Toronto. Boston starter Felix Doubront was roughed up over six innings, allowing five earned runs on 11 hits in the loss. David Ortiz basted two homers on the night but it wasn't enough as the Sox dropped the series opener to the Jays, 9-6.
