Ellsbury’s Homer Leads Red Sox Past Rays

Led by Jacoby Ellsbury’s HR and three RBI, the Boston Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays, 5-2. Pitcher Aaron Cook ended his five-game skid and Boston has won three of its last four games.

The Red Sox defeated the Rays in the opener of the teams' four game set at Tropicana Field on Monday night. Aaron Cook picked up the win, giving up just one run on five hits in six innings of work. The Rays jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning on a Ryan Roberts RBI groundout. However, Boston would rally in the later innings. Jacoby Ellsbury hit a two run homer in the sixth, and would deliver another RBI single in the 7th, as Boston dropped Tampa Bay 5-2.
