Red Sox Beat Tigers in Rainy Affair

The Boston Red Sox dropped the Detroit Tigers 4-1 in a game that was called in the sixth inning due to rain. Starter Josh Beckett left after two and 2/3 innings with back spasms.

Josh Beckett left the game in the third inning with lower back spasms however the Red Sox defeated the Tigers in a rain-shortened affair at Fenway Park. The Boston starter threw 49 pitches before leaving with two outs in the top of the 3rd inning. The Boston batters scored four times off Justin Verlander in the bottom of the 4th inning. Detroit had the bases loaded with two outs when the trap was rolled on the field in the 6th. The game would be called after a hour and 45 minute delay and the Sox would notch their 4th straight win, 4-1.
