Red Sox Topped by Twins in Extra Innings

The Boston Red Sox blew an early five-run lead in a 6-5 ten-inning loss to the Minnesota Twins. Carl Crawford fell a triple shy of the cycle for Boston. Vicente Padilla took the loss in relief.

The Red Sox fell to the Twins in 1o innings on Friday night at Fenway Park. Carl Crawford went 3-5 including a 3-run blast in the 3rd that gave Boston a 5-1 lead. Despite the cushion, starter Felix Doubront fell apart and allowed the Twins to score 4 runs in the top of the 5th inning. Justin Morneau led the way for the Minnesota offense going 4-4 with 2 RBI, but the star was Jamey Carroll as he delivered a game winning RBI single in the top of the 10th inning as Boston came up short, 6-5.
