The Yankees kept their one game lead in the AL East in tact after a thrilling extra inning win over the rival Red Sox. Boston plated two in the first, and in the ninth took a 3-1 lead following a James Loney solo shot, but the Bombers rallied to tie it in the bottom half of the inning. Raul Ibanez blasted a two run shot to right to tie it at three, and delivered again in the 12th inning with a walk off single to lift New York over Boston 4-3 in 12 innings.
